This is to allow Parliament to re-examine the contract and ascertain if it is tainted with any fraud and also address the issue of contradictions, if any.

He told the Daily Graphic that he was of the view that the entire deal needed to be re-examined and the seeming confusion that had arisen in the past few days addressed, hence his move.

He said if it was found out that the deal was tainted with any irregularities the government could pull out without any liabilities.

Controversy

Pressure has been mounting on the government to disclose the details of its agreement with AMERI Energy following a Norwegian newspaper publication alleging that Ghana was short-changed in excess of $290 million.

Civil society organisations and some Ghanaians have accused both the government and Parliament of not undertaking thorough investigations before signing the deal with AMERI Energy.
