MP for Agona East fetes children
The Member of Parliament for the Agona East Constituency in the Central Region, Mrs Queenstar Maame Pokuah Sawyerr, has organised a Christmas party for about 1000 children within her constituency.

The party was the fourth to be organised by the MP and the children were given soft drinks, food and toffees. There was a dancing competition for the children after which some children were given prizes.
Addressing the children, Mrs Sawyerr, who is also the Deputy Central Regional Minister, noted that during the Christmas season children needed to be shown love and care and that the party was meant to put smiles on the faces of the children.
According to her, during such a festive season, most of the children were neglected, adding that the party, which had become an annual event since 2010, was to ensure that the children in her area celebrated Christmas.
She said as the MP for the area, she had resolved to ensure that the programme was sustained so that every child, through the party, would get the unique opportunity to drink and dine, as well as interact with other children.
She stated that she was a child-centred person and that she would ensure that the children in the district were given the best of care so that they could lead meaningful lives in future.
She urged the children to be focused in life and desist from acts that had the tendency to thwart their progress in life.
She appealed to parents to support her efforts towards the provision of education in the constituency and added that parents should provide the educational needs, as well as help their children pursue their future dreams.

The deputy regional minister noted that she had begun a project to furnish all police stations in the constituency and provide police posts to help improve security in the there.
She indicated that she would ensure the improvement in the road network in the district in 2014 and, therefore, called on the chiefs and people to rally behind her towards the development of the constituency.
