NPP mourns Chairman Kutin as final funeral rites set for Assin Jakai May 31-June 1

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) will bid a solemn farewell to its late Central Regional Chairman, Robert Kutin Jnr, whose final funeral rites are scheduled to take place from May 31 to June 1, 2024, in his hometown of Assin Jakai.

The politician and former Board Chairman of the Ghana Maritime Authority (GMA) passed away on December 22, 2023, following a period of illness.

Chairman Kutin Jnr’s death marked the loss of a towering figure within both the NPP and Ghana’s public service. Renowned for his firm yet compassionate leadership style, he played a central role in shaping the political fortunes of the NPP in the Central Region while leaving an indelible mark on national institutions.

As Board Chairman of the Ghana Maritime Authority (GMA), Kutin Jnr led a quiet transformation within the organisation, instilling a renewed culture of professionalism and strategic foresight. His tenure saw the construction of two modern GMA headquarters — one in Accra and another in Takoradi — hailed as symbols of his commitment to institutional excellence.

In the political arena, Chairman Kutin Jnr earned a reputation as a grassroots mobiliser and party strategist whose influence helped consolidate the NPP’s strength in the region. His leadership style and broad appeal won him admiration across party lines, reflecting a legacy built not just on partisanship but on national service.

Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, in a tribute, described him as “a force for good — a man who lived and led with purpose. His legacy will continue to guide us.”

The funeral events are expected to draw thousands of mourners, including high-ranking government officials, parliamentarians, traditional authorities, and ordinary citizens whose lives were touched by his leadership and mentorship.
