NPP outlines security and operational guidelines ahead of July 19 National Delegates Conference

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has detailed comprehensive measures ahead of its 2025 National Annual Delegates Conference, scheduled to take place on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.

Speaking at a press briefing, the Chairman of the National Planning Committee, Joseph Osei-Wusu, said the party was fully prepared to host a smooth and incident-free event.

“All accredited delegates and officials with valid accreditation badges or passes will be allowed entry. Anyone found without valid accreditation shall be removed from the conference grounds by security operatives,” Osei-Wusu stated.

He added that delegates would be restricted to assigned zones to avoid disruptions, and any individual causing disturbances would face severe consequences.

Health and safety measures

The party’s Health and Safety Committee has taken steps to ensure the wellbeing of all participants. Osei-Wusu announced the establishment of ten medical stands—three outside and seven inside the stadium—staffed by 50 volunteer medical professionals.

Additionally, an emergency medical team from the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC), including 10 medical personnel, will be on standby. The National Ambulance Service has also been engaged to support the event. Covid-19 protocols will be strictly enforced throughout the conference.

Security Arrangements

The party’s internal security will work in close collaboration with state security agencies, including the Ghana Police Service, to maintain law and order. Security personnel will be stationed at all delegate hostels, cooking points, and resting areas.

To ensure proper screening and movement, each of the 16 regions will be assigned a designated gate of entry.

He warned that anyone arrested for breaching security protocols or engaging in misconduct would face legal action. The inner perimeter of the stadium has also been declared a restricted zone, accessible only to persons with specific duties.

Ban on campaign materials and activities

A complete ban on campaign activities has been instituted, covering the entire precincts of the conference grounds. The party has also prohibited all campaign materials, including billboards, banners, posters, T-shirts, flyers and souvenirs with aspirant branding.

“All such materials will be removed and destroyed by compliance teams,” he emphasised.

Logistics and delegate services

Accommodation, transport, and feeding arrangements for delegates have been finalised. The party will provide further details to regional party leadership on Monday, July 14.

Media guidelines

The Communications and Media Committee has established strict guidelines for journalists covering the conference. Accreditation will be processed online, with badge pick-ups scheduled for Friday, July 18, at 12:00pm.

A centralised media village will be set up at the venue, including studios for English and Twi commentary. A clean audio-visual feed will also be provided to support broadcast outlets. Media organisations outside Accra will be supported with satellite connectivity.

Media setup must be completed at least 12 hours before the event begins, and a support desk will be available for all media-related concerns.

Osei-Wusu concluded by urging non-delegates to follow the event via television or other media platforms, stressing that no special access would be granted to uninvited guests.

The NPP’s annual delegates conference is expected to draw thousands of party delegates from across the country and will be a key moment in shaping the party’s direction ahead of the 2028 general elections.
