NPP poised to win Tempane seat in December– Kpemka assures

A Deputy Attorney General and Member of Parliament (MP) for Tempane in the Upper East Region, Mr Joseph Dindiok Kpemka has stated that he is determined to consolidate the gains made in the 2016 elections by winning the 2020 parliamentary elections with “ a very wide margin”.

Mr Kpemka who is currently going unopposed as the New Patriotic Party(NPP) aspirant for the Constituency, further explained that the massive infrastructure development and numerous social intervention policies being implemented in the Tempane Constituency by the current government which has significantly improved livelihoods has made the area a model constituency for learning.

He was addressing delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at Tempane on Thursday, June 18,2020 after being acclaimed by its National Executive Committee(NEC) as the party’s 2020 parliamentary candidate in the Constituency.

According to him, Tempane was gradually becoming the stronghold of the NPP in the region and “we are determined by the kind grace of God to consolidate the gains made in 2016 and win this time by even a very wide margin”.

“I can tell you without doubt that the policies that have been implemented by the government of Akufo-Addo such as the Free Senior High School Education, Planting for Food and Jobs, One Village One Dam and the massive infrastructure in various sectors in this constituency has made the seat a done deal for the NPP,” he stressed.

The MP noted that there was no constituency in the region which had received more of the national cake than his area and pledged to work hard with the leadership of the party in the area for the NPP not only to retain the parliamentary seat but to ensure that they won the presidential election for the first time since its creation.

“I do not know of any constituency in Upper East that have had more beneficiaries of MASLOC loans in terms of the women to facilitate their businesses than this constituency,” he stated.

Apart from the roads being worked on, he said about 56 communities in the area were currently benefiting from the Rural Electrification Projects.

On water and sanitation, the MP stated that about 99 boreholes were being drilled across various communities, while six Small Town Water Systems and six water closet facilities have also been constructed.

On education, Mr Kpemka stated that apart from the 13 different schools that were being constructed, plans were far advanced for the construction of 12-unit storey classroom block for the Tempane Senior High School to ensure that the school was taken off the double track system.

The Parliamentary Candidate further revealed that in 2019, 80 tertiary students were given scholarships through the MP’s social intervention fund and added that 100 tertiary students would be given GH₵1000.00 scholarship each to help pay their school fees this year.

The Deputy Attorney General stated that apart from construction of 10 stores each at three different market places to boost the Assembly’s revenue mobilization, many of the youth in the area have gained employment under various youth employment models.

Mr Kpemka paid glowing tribute to the District Chief Executive, Mr Paul Abugre Azumah, the Deputy CEO of Northern Development Authority,Mr Patrick Seidu,the Deputy CEO of the Youth Employment Agency in charge of operations, Alhaji Bashiru Ibrahim and Ghana's Ambassador to the Vatican, Mr Joseph Akudibillah for supporting him in diverse ways which has increased the electoral fortunes of the party in the Constituency.

Alhaji Ibrahim, for his part indicated that the rank and file of the party have resolved to support Mr Kpemka to win again the December general elections.

The Deputy CEO explained that in terms of infrastructure and aid to the vulnerable in the constituency, the records of Kpemka was unmatched and said the party’s leadership would continue to work in unison to cement the seat and secure the presidential win for President Akufo-Addo.

Mr Kpemka is contesting Ms Lydia Akanvariba Lamisi, widow of the late David Adakudugu, as the NDC’s parliamentary candidate for the December Parliamentary elections.
