The Reverend Collins Agyapong, District Pastor of the Four Garrison Pentecost Church, Kumasi, has urged Ghanaians to let national interest take precedence over partisan political consideration.

“We all need to be more patriotic, since that is the only way to bring progress,” he said.

Rev. Agyapong, in a New Year message, expressed discomfort with what he called, ‘the penchant to politicise every single national issue,’ and said that was unhelpful for socio-economic development.

He, however, noted that the nation was making good progress in its multi-party democratic governance.

“Ghanaians have been able to tolerate each other, and this is something all should be proud of and make sure that it is sustained to deepen our democracy,” he said.

He encouraged the political leadership to rely on God’s guidance in the choices and decisions that they would make.

He reminded all to have faith, trust in God and look into the future with hope and confidence.  — GNA
