The Mirror wins tourism award

The Mirror, a leading weekend newspaper published by the Graphic Communications Group Limited (GCGL), has been  adjudged the best Tourism Oriented Media for the print Media for 2014.

The paper was  honoured at the 10th National Tourism Awards in Accra and was commended for promoting tourism throughout the year of 2014.

In all, 34 individuals and institutions were given awards in various categories for distinguishing themselves in the sector.

The Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Mrs Elizabeth Ofosu-Agyare, indicated that the annual awards scheme was instituted by the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) to drive service quality in the tourism sector and enhance the country’s position as a competitive tourist destination.

The awards also serve as a means of recognising and rewarding partners and stakeholders who support various facets of the country’s tourism development effort.

The best Five Star Hotel award went to the Labadi Beach Hotel, while Best Western Premier was adjudged the best in the Four Star category.

The Car Renting Company award was won by Atlas Car Rentals, while the Restaurant of the Year award went to Azmera Restaurant.
