UFP acclaims Agyenim Boateng flag bearer for 2016
Delegates at the United Front Party’s (UFP) national congress in Kumasi last Saturday overwhelmingly acclaimed their founder, Nana Agyenim Boateng, as the party’s flag bearer for the 2016 general election.

The congress, supervised by the Electoral Commission (EC), also confirmed all the national executive members through popular acclamation.
Officers
Nana Boateng (aka Gyataba), who is the flag bearer, will double as the National Chairman. Other officers that were acclaimed are: Cann Boateng, First Vice Chairman; Freduah Ampofo, second Vice Chairman; Noah Annor, National Organiser; David Obeng, Deputy Organiser; Prince Moses Zachariah, General Secretary. The rest are Samuel Osei, Assistant General Secretary; Ernest Amoah-Awuah, Youth Organiser; Juana Antwi Agyei, Women Organiser; Habiba Mohammed, Deputy Women Organiser with Enoch Anane as the Treasurer.
The occassion was marked with dancing and singing of gospel songs supported by an all-blind band, Royal Sparrows Gospel band.
Acceptance speech
Sporting a black suite over a white shirt and red tie, Nana Boateng, after his acclamation, said the era of the NDC and NPP was over because they had not been able to help Ghanaians.The flag bearer in his acceptance speech stated that the UFP was not in the race just to add to the numbers but had established itself in all constituencies and was campaigning strongly with its message of taking Ghana to a greater height. About 2500 delegates from all corners of the country were also sported in party T-shirts.
He noted that the country required a leader with fresh blood and new ideas and policies to tap the natural and human resources of the country to propel it to an industrial nation status with its people benefitting from the prosperity.
He announced that the policies and programmes of the UFP would revolve around the agricultural and health sectors by giving prior attention to the provision of inputs that would turn the fortunes of the farmers to produce enough, while ensuring that there was adequate market to ensure that their produce did not go waste.
Nana Boateng said the health sector would be given greater attention and they would concentrate on preventive health because “the health of the nation is its wealth.” He explained that this would ensure that the nation had a healthy human resource to propel its industrialisation.
