According to them, the daily allowance of GH¢19.05 was meagre and therefore wanted an increment to GH¢30.

The exhibition officers are supposed to receive GH¢400 while the verification officers are to receive GH¢350 at the end of the exercise on August 7, 2016.

In a petition dated July 16, 2016 and addressed to the Tamale Metro Director of EC, Mr Issah Natogmah, the officers led by Mr Braimah A. Damba gave the EC a three day ultimatum to respond favourably to their petition else they will discontinue with the exercise.

The threat came on the day the exhibition and verification exercise started across the country.

“If this request does not receive the necessary attention, we may advise ourselves by Wednesday 21 July, 2016,” they stated in the petition.

“We the trainees for the upcoming exhibition exercise in the Northern Region of Ghana write to petition your daily allowance of GH¢ 19.05 per day during the exercise.

They argued that during the last limited registration exercise they were paid Gh¢30 a day and wondered why the amount has now been reduced,

The Tamale Metro EC Director confirmed to Graphic Online he has received a copy of the petition from the group and said it would be forwarded to the EC chairperson in Accra for redress.

Meanwhile there was low patronage of the exercise Monday morning in Tamale.
