The pair visited the chief’s palace in Kojokrom as part of efforts to strengthen ties with traditional leaders and seek their blessing ahead of the 2024 elections. Mr Ghartey, who has served as the MP for the Western Region constituency for several years, is stepping down and passing the mantle to Mr Bissue, who hopes to continue the party’s representation in Parliament.

During the meeting, Mr Ghartey used the opportunity to promote peace and unity within the constituency. Addressing the chief and his subjects, he urged residents to maintain harmony as the country heads into next year’s presidential and parliamentary elections.

"We are all one people," Mr Ghartey said. "The Essikado-Ketan Constituency and all of Ghana must remain united, no matter our political differences."

Charles Bissue, who is running to succeed Ghartey in the constituency, thanked the chief for his guidance and pledged to continue working closely with traditional authorities to ensure development and stability in the region.

The 2024 elections are expected to be closely contested, with political parties across Ghana intensifying efforts to secure key seats in Parliament.
