Powers, Kamoko for weigh-in today
After weeks of media battles, postponements, bizarre twists, Michael Ayiitey Okine, known in boxing circles as Ayittey Powers, and Braimah ‘Bukom Banku’ Kamoko, are expected to mount the scales today at the Accra Sports Stadium for the mandatory weigh-in ahead of tomorrow’s blockbuster cruiserweight showdown named ‘Judgement Night’.
The non-title fight has been overshadowed by two date changes, including a request to the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) by the Greater Accra Regional Security Council (REGSEC) for the postponed of the bout, following a fiat issued by the Ga Traditional Council cancelling tomorrow’s bout because of the ban on noise making and drumming which precedes the Homowo festival.

However, the fight promoter and CEO of Box Office Promotions, Alex Ntiamoah Boakye, gave an assurance that the fight would come off as planned even as they were in negotiations with other stakeholders to ensure a successful, incident-free fight.
He was confident that when the two boxers mounted the scale, it would put paid all uncertainties that had affected non-title fight tomorrow, in view of the request by REGSEC.
The undercard of tomorrow’s showdown include a light middleweight contest between Obodai Sai and Abolaji Rasheed, Manyo Plange and Joshua Barnor clash in a bantamweight contest, Prince Dzanie and Galley Cudjoe face-off for the National Bantamweight Championship, Giftcole Chiori faces Daniel Adjei Sowah in an international middleweight contest, while Ahmed Saraku takes on Sadiq Musah in another middleweight contest.
