Balotelli in tears

Mario Balotelli is an emotional guy, everybody knows that. But after he was substituted in AC Milan's 3-1 defeat to Napoli last Saturday night, the former Manchester City striker, burst into tears as he sat on the bench.

But why exactly was he crying?

His new manager Clarence Seedorf put it down to frustration, that Balotelli, who had just missed a wonderful scoring opportunity and had had an ineffective match, was simply upset at the prospect of losing a key match.

“What can I say about Balotelli's tears? They were the tears of a sportsman”, Seedorf explained in the press conference afterwards.

“Mario is human,” he added in an interview with Mediaset Premium. “These are things that happen many times in football and sport in general.

“I’d say it was actually beautiful, but I'd prefer to talk about the game.”

His team-mate Ignazio Abate agreed that Balotelli's disappointment at the result had got the better of him.

“Mario cares about doing well with Milan and making his mark. He is sentimental.”
