Ben Koufie’s burial Sat

The football family will this weekend converge on Cape Coast to bid their final farewell to one of the accomplished sons of the game, Ben Koufie.

The burial service and final funeral rites will be held at the Victoria Park, Cape Coast, on Saturday, September 17 with the family holding a private burial.

Ben Koufie, who died last July, rose through the ranks as a footballer to become one of the accomplished technical brains in Africa.

Koufie started his career at Ebusua Dwarfs and Venomous Vipers, both in Cape Coast,  and also played for the senior national team, the Black Stars. On retirement, he became a coach and handled the Black Stars and later the Zimbabwe national team.

He returned to Ghana to become chairman of the Ghana Football Assciation (GFA) President in 2001, and also the head of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Technical Committee and Coaches Instructor as well as the head of the GFA Technical Committee until his death.
