Black Maidens finally off to USA

Ghana's Black Maidens last Tuesday missed their flight to the United States after arriving at the airport late for check in.

The Maidens, who were to have left for their training tour at Alabama ahead of their participation in the 2014 Women's World Cup (WWC) in Costa Rica next month, could not leave as scheduled because 13 players of the team were denied American visa last week.

Following an appeal and re-submission, 11 of the players were given the visas, paving the way for the team to leave.

However, the trip once again was affected as the team were unable to arrive on time for their flight.

Officials told the Daily Graphic that there was miscommunication about the departure date, but efforts were made to get the team out yesterday.

With still some weeks left  for the submission of the team list to FIFA, team officials are tight-lipped on the players making the trip.
