Blanc thrilled by Marseille win
The three points earned from Sunday night’s Le Classique were the biggest prize for title-chasing Paris Saint-Germain coach Laurent Blanc, who savoured a special 2-0 victory over Marseille.
PSG took another step towards securing back-to-back Ligue 1 titles for the first time as goals from Maxwell and Edinson Cavani sent traditional rivals Marseille packing from the Parc des Princes.
Blanc’s men are now eight points clear at the top following Monaco's defeat at St Etienne and the former France boss is already plotting his next move towards clinching an historic championship.
He told psg.fr: “For all the people who love Paris St Germain, beating Marseille is always special. We are happy to have won this Classique tonight but especially happy to have pocketed three points.Visiting coach Jose Anigo, who oversaw Marseille’s fourth straight league defeat in the capital, felt his side had no chance against an expensively assembled squad targeting the Champions League trophy.
“PSG's superiority to Marseille is clear,” he told L'Equipe. “Look at their bench — you know what it cost. Look what they have on the pitch. This is a team that is tailored for the Champions League.”
