CAS postpones ruling on Palmer v GFA case again

The Court of Arbitration of Sport (CAS) has extended the date for the ruling of the much-anticipated case between Wilfred Kweku Osei, alias Palmer, and the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to September 1.

This is the second time CAS has postponed its verdict on Palmer’s challenge on his disqualification from last October’s GFA Presidential elections.

The Counsel to the CAS, Carolin Fischer, sent a letter announcing the postponement to both parties on August 5.

“On behalf of the Deputy President of the CAS Arbitration Division, please be advised that the time limit to communicate the Arbitral Award to the parties, pursuant to Article 59 of the Code of Sports-related Arbitration, has been extended until September 1, 2020.”

Palmer went to CAS challenging the Normalisation Committee’s (NC) decision to disqualify him from contesting for the GFA elections for failing to pay 10 per cent of the transfer fee of Joseph Paintsil from Tema Youth to Belgian side Genk in 2018.

CAS was scheduled to announce the awaited verdict on August 4 following an initial postponement from July 17.
