Sellas Tetteh — Satellites Coach

FIFA U-20 World Cup - Borbor: We’re peaking

The coach of Ghana’s Black Satellites, Sellas ‘Borbor’ Tetteh is confident the team are peaking in good time to reach their goals at the on-going FIFA World Youth Championship in New Zealand.

The Satellites play their final group game against Panama tomorrow morning at 4:00a.m.

Last Tuesday, the Satellites beat favourites, Argentina 3-2 in their Group B match, and Coach Tetteh believes it is a sign of good things to come after overcoming their mistakes in the opening game against Austria.

Indeed, the Satellites took a commanding 3-0 lead but conceded two goals  in the dying minutes of the game as the Argentines desperately fought hard to earn a draw.

According to the coach, the Satellites were unable to shed that uneviable tag of “Ghana being slow starters at such tournaments” but got into full swing once the first hurdle was cleared.

“The first couple of matches at a tournament are always tough. We analysed the Austria game in detail and did a much better job today.  I’m very happy with today’s match. I was particularly pleased with Samuel Tetteh – but football is and will always be a team effort, ” he said.

The win has put the Satellites, champions in 2009 also under Coach Tetteh, nicknamed Borbor, in the lead on the Group B standings and also rekindled their belief that they will go all the way to at least the semi-finals.

“Our minimum target is still to reach the semi-finals, and it won’t be difficult to achieve that if we can continue to deliver the kind of performance we produced today, the coach, who also led the Satellites to a bronze-medal feat in Turkey two years ago, indicated.
