Ghana face Mali in FIFA U-20 World Cup

Ghana and Mali will be at each other’s throat on Wednesday, June 10 as the Round of 16 of the FIFA U-20 World Cup kicks off at the Wellington Regional Stadium, New Zealand.

The Ghanaians finished tops of Group B with 7 points, with Mali scraping through qualification as one of the best third-placed finishers, having finished behind Serbia and Uruguay in Group D with 4 points.

But all that will count for nothing as the two sides come for a fresh start in the knockout stages where a win is all that matters.

Nigeria will also be fighting a cagey battle against the free scoring Germany on Thursday, June 11, and it is refreshing to hear Coach Manu Garba saying the Flying Eagles are ready not only for Germany but any team that may come their way.

The Germans who won all three of their group matches banged in no less than 16 goals and conceded only 2 in Group F while the Nigerians scored 8 and gave 4 away.
Africa’s other representative in the competition, Senegal, come up against Ukraine on Wednesday, June 10.
