Hearts, Kotoko legends clash in Accra
At the Accra Sports Stadium today, retired football greats of the nation’s two most glamorous clubs will attempt to rekindle their rivalry in a friendly encounter.
Former legends of Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko clash again in a return leg of their May 25 epic clash at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium where they took fans down memory lane with some deft touches and skills and wizardry reminiscent of the former days.
The friendly encounter which was first staged at the Baba Yara Sport Stadium a few months back left the Phobian legend badly bruised in a 1-3 loss to the Porcupine Warriors ex stars.
The clash will see the Accra-based side demand their pound of flesh in a fashion reminisce of their active days.
Organised by PeacePower Sports, the home-and-away encounters are expected to be an annual affair aimed at strengthening ties among the two clubs and rekindling age-old rivalry between the onetime football greats whose exploits in the past still provide fans nostalgic feelings.
Ready to stand up to the test from the Hearts side is the dribbling magician, Mohammed Polo, who would want to use the occasion to showcase what Ghanaians have missed in local football, with support from Ben Adjei, Sam ‘Foyoo’ Johnson, Emmanuel ‘Senegal’Armah, Joe Addo, Hesse ‘Mazoola’ Odamtten, among others.
Kotoko would be led by ‘Wizard Dribbler’ Reverend Osei Kofi, Joe Debrah, ‘Lord Zico’ Opoku Nti, Prince Opoku Polley, Michael Osei, Black Stars coach Kwasi Appiah and his assistant, Maxwell Konadu.
