Hearts, Kotoko legends clash on Sunday

What started as a friendly encounter among oldies of the two great clubs in the country - Hearts and Kotoko - will now be an annual affair, according to the organisers, Peace Power Sports.

The return leg of the May 25 clash between legends of the two famous clubs in the country is scheduled for the Accra Sports Stadium this Sunday at 3pm

The match will, however, be heralded by another friendly duel between supporters of the two clubs. In the May 25 battle, Kotoko Oldies thrashed their Herats counterparts 3-1.

But Hearts legend Mohammed Polo, Ben Adjei and Koby Bortey, have promised vengeance and would live no stone unturned to achieve that.

At a media briefing yesterday at the Media Centre of the Accra Sports Stadium, Anim Addo, an organiser of the event, noted that Gbese Mantse, Nii Ayi Bonte and Greater Accra Regional Minister, Julius Debrah, would kick off  the match.

‘’It is going to be a cracker; both teams are well prepared and motivated for the encounter,’’ Mr Anim Addo told the media.

The match, dubbed ‘’Historic Clash 2013’’, is aimed at strengthening the unity among old players, invoking nostalgic feelings and sustaining sporting interest among football- loving fans in the country.

According to Dan Kweku Yeboah, an organiser, the match is also expected to create a platform for the old players to interact with each other, while reincarnating the ‘’Fabu-Phobia’’ rivalry.

A special donation would also be presented to Agyeman Duah,a former player of both Kotoko and Hearts-who is currently bedridden with stroke.

The match is being sponsored by Sunny LED TV as headline sponsors, with Millenium City and HI SENSE as partners.

Present at the press encounter were old players of Hearts and Kotoko, including Reverend Osei Kofi, Ben Adjei and Koby Bortey.
