Kotoko fall at Dansoman

Enraged fans of Kumasi Asante Kotoko yesterday went wild and vented their spleen on their players when they blew away a fine opportunity to lift themselves up on the league log.

Kotoko’s win last Wednesday over Olympics drew a lot of their followers to the Dansoman Carl Reindorf park but after taking an early lead through striker Ahmed Toure, a misunderstanding between a Kotoko defender and his goalkeeper, Eric Ofori Antwi, gave Liberty the equaliser through their workerholic midfielder, Latif Blessings, who took advantage of the confusion to punish the visitors in the 22nd minutes.

Liberty, after the equaliser, mounted an intense pressure on the visitors but were denied on a number of occasions by goalkeeper Antwi.
Liberty came into the second session strongly and seized the midfield with Kennedy Ashia and Latif Blessing leading the onslaught and drawing rings around Abeiku Ainooson, Amos Frimpong and Kwadwo Poku who kept chasing their shadows.

Coach David Duncan who stood throughout the 90 minutes, kept pushing his boys to rise up to the occasion but the Kotoko boys continued to play as if there was nothing at stake, much to his frustration and disappointment.

As the game wore on, Liberty kept the pressure on, and on the 77th minute Ashia unleashed a thunderbolt which zoomed straight into the Kotoko post for the second goal for Liberty.

Liberty’s dominance paid off again when Benjamin Eli Agbeko headed home in the 91st minute to seal the doom of Kotoko.
