Manchester City want to buy Everton

Manchester City are chasing 17-year-old Brazilian striker Everton, according to a report by Goal.com.

The Gremio forward, who scored 20 goals for the club's youth team last year, is very highly-rated in Brazil and has been previously scouted by City director of football Txiki Begiristain and his South American contacts.

According to the report, Everton can't sign a pro deal until he is 18 later this year and a work permit could still be a problem, with City exploring the possibility of establishing links with Portuguese side Boavista.

A further complication is the fact that Gremio only own 90 per cent of Everton's sporting rights and thus City would need to come to an agreement with the relevant third party.
