Stars hold Libya

The Black Stars of Ghana played out a one-all game with Libya at the ongoing African Nations Championships in South Africa.

Ghana took a 6th minute lead after Yahaya Mohammed (voted player of the match for his industry) headed in a cross from the left, but Libya equalized in the 72nd minute through a beautifully converted penalty by Faisal Saleh.

But this was a game the Libyans had every opportunity to win, they however squandered the many chances they created at the Free State Stadium, Mangaung while on a couple of occasions their attempts met with saves by Stephen Adams.

The Ghanaians also had a few chances to score but which also went to waste. With the draw, Libya maintains top spot at Group C with 4 points, same as Ghana but with a goal advantage, while group members Ethiopia and Congo who are without a point play later.

The final Group C games are on Tuesday, January 21.
