Wa All Stars hand Polo's Hearts 3:0 pummelling in Accra

A dejected Accra Hearts of Oak side resumed their league campaign abysmally as they ended the first round, slumping to a 3:0 defeat in their own backyard to Wa All Stars.

The result got Hearts fans infuriated as they chanted for the sacking of Coach Mohammed Polo, but the ‘Dribbling Magician’ says the call is misplaced and he will keep his job.

But the warning signs had been clear on the wall, with All Stars team manager Seth Panwum boasting a repeat of the dose his lads handed the worried Phobians.

The match was only two minutes old when Samuel Boateng opened the goals for All Stars, and the win was cemented in the second half with goals by Ishmael Ganiu and Paul De Vries. View Emmanuel Quaye's photos of the match.

Hearts who next play Aduana Stars, were hardly a threat in the game watched by a sizeable number of their vociferous fans and as Referee Samuel Gyasi blew his whistle to close the game, the players slumped onto the pitch in search of clues to what may have hit them as the victors, the only side to win away from home in the week jumped about in ecstatic jubilation. (Three matches have been rescheduled due to international engagements).

Elsewhere in Kpando, Randy Abbey’s Heart of Lions proved too strong for Liberty Professionals and dismissed the Scientific Soccer Lads by a 2:0 scoreline.
