Razak to Hearts’ rescue

Target for the season
Coach Odoom says his target for the season is to end the club’s 11-year wait for the league title, and it appears Razak could be a key figure in the Phobians’ campaign after he was spotted training with Hearts last Friday.
Odoom told the Graphic Sports that the midfielder was under observation and assessment for a decision to be made on his suitability for the domestic campaign.
“He has started training with us so we can assess him. As to whether we want to sign him, we will take a decision going forward. Nothing has been agreed yet,” he said.

Director of Hearts
Two months ago, a director of Hearts, Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, livid that Razak abandoned the Phobians for Guinean side Horoya two seasons ago, told the Graphic Sports that there was no way the midfielder would be allowed to return to the club.
However, with the exit of two top players, Joseph Esso and Kofi Kordzi, ahead of the upcoming season, the Phobians need reinforcement and may have to eat humble pie and re-engage Razak.
Last month Esso joined Dawu-based Dreams FC after failing to reach an agreement with the Phobians over a contract extension, while Kordzi left for Qatar to complete his move to Muaither SC.

Challenge for the title
Nonetheless, Coach Odoom is hopeful his side would be in good shape to challenge for the title this term.
“The target is to win the league title this season,” Coach Odoom told the Graphic Sports.
“A club like Hearts must not be mere participants in the league so we are working tirelessly to achieve that.
“I think we have a side to make that happen and it’s been too long to win it. It is a major concern to everyone at the club and we want to end it this season.”
The coach explained that Hearts were willing to strengthen the team and would not relent on signing players that fit the club’s ideology.
“We are looking at strengthening the team so any player we feel fits our ideology and we can sign him, why not?”, Odoom noted.
