Aduana supported Saka during injury — Commey

Aduana Stars' Chief Executive Officer, Albert Commey, has denied claims by skipper Godfred Saka that he was neglected during his long injury lay-off.

He expressed surprise at Saka's claim that the Premier League champions only gave him financial support during his stay on the sidelines, and noted that his outfit did everything to ensure the defender returned to action within the specified period.

Martin Luther Club wins Taekwondo contest

Martin Luther King School Taekwondo Club at Ashaiman emerged winners of the third edition of the "I Love Taekwondo" Video Contest organised by the Ghana Taekwondo Federation (GTF), aimed at developing the sport in Ghana.

The contest, held at the Korean Sports Complex at Community Three, Tema, was organised in partnership with the Korea Embassy in Ghana.

GNPC boss pledges support for GOC

The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Petroleum Committee (GNPC), Dr Kofi Kodua Sarpong, has called for equal distribution of resources to the various sporting disciplines to ensure they thrive in their activities.

Tetteh wins WBO africa heavyweight title

Heavyweight boxer Ebenezer Tetteh last Saturday night became the new World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Africa Junior heavyweight champion after knocking out his opponent Burkinabe Boniface Kabore in the second round of their title bout staged at the Unity Park at Achimota in Accra.

The win sustains the winning streak of the Ghanaian who is undefeated in 15 bouts and has set his eyes on winning a world title next year.

FA, PLB to decide on league

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is expected to engage the Premier League Board (PLB) in an emergency meeting to decide on a new date for the commencement of the Premier League.

The meeting, scheduled for next week, is expected to, among other things, discuss the delay in the commencement of the league and whether the league could be completed before the World Cup in June.

The Scrabble Association of Ghana is inviting players and lovers of scrabble of all ages and skill to converge on the Media Centre of the Accra Sports Stadium at 9a.m. tomorrow to play scrabble.

Maidens to cut the Gambia to size in 2018 World Cup qualifier

Ghana's Black Maidens, the Under-17 female football team, are hoping to make it a double win over the Gambia when they host them at the Cape Coast Stadium in their 2018 Women’s World Cup (WWC) qualifier tomorrow.

The two sides meet in the second leg of their first round qualifier with the Maidens leading 5-1 from the first leg played two weeks ago.

Aduana, Kotoko aim to make Ghana proud

After over a decade of continental club title drought, Ghana's hopes could be revived when Aduana Stars and Kumasi Asante Kotoko begin the continental campaigns next year.

For the Dormaa-Ahenkro-based side, the experience gathered during their botched maiden CAF Champions League campaign in 2011 would be enough to push them further in the competition this time around when they take on Libyan side, Al Tahaddy next February.

Accra Stadium renovation to begin next month

The Minister of Youth and Sports, Isaac Asiamah, has revealed that renovation works at the Accra Sports Stadium would begin early next month in preparation for next year's Africa Women’s Championship (AWC) to be staged in Ghana.

Mr Asiamah said procument for the renovation works had been done and the only thing left was the commencement of the renovation which would give the stadium a facelift.

A former president of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA), Moses Foh-Amoaning, has waded into the Martha Bissah feud with the Ghana Athletics Association (GAA), urging the young promising athlete must explore all available avenues for sports adjudication to clear her name.

Mr Foh-Amoaning told the Graphic Sports that although it was unclear the offence for which Martha Bissah was suspended, she did apologise verbally in the presence of her guardian, Mikki Osei Berko, when she was invited by a disciplinary body set up by Prof Dodoo’s administration.

US-based athlete Emmanuel Dasor has graduated from the Western Kentucky University with a degree in Business Administration.

Dasor, who has represented Ghana in the 200 metres and 400 metres at the African Championships, Commonwealth Games and Olympic Games, is among a number of Ghanaian athletes on sporting scholarships in the USA secured by the Ghana Athletics Association.
