Black Stars B sure of CHAN qualification - As they host Burkina Faso

The Black Stars B hope to exploit fully their home advantage as they play host to Burkina Faso at the Baba Yara stadium on Sunday in the return encounter of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier for a place at next year’s CHAN in Kenya.

Coach Kwasi Appiah’s charges go into Sunday’s game with an advantage after battling the Burkinabes to a 2-2 drawn game in Ouagadougou last week. But they can only confirm their place at  the January 11 – February 2, 2018 tournament if the Black Stars B avoid a defeat to sail through on the away goal’s rule.

Stars poised to seal CHAN spot Preview

A late invitation handed to Accra Hearts of Oak’s Vincent Atinga appears to be what Coach Kwasi Appiah hopes would help seal Black Stars B’s leaking defence as the team move into top gear to annihilate Burkina Faso on Sunday at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi in a return leg of the 2018 Total Championship of African Nations (CHAN) qualifier.

The arrival of well-built Atinga, one of the Premier League’s outstanding players this season, should help ease the worries of coaches Appiah and his assistant, Maxwell Konadu, as they plot to jump the Burkina Faso hurdle to secure one of three slots from West Zone B for Kenya 2018.

Are we ready to host the 2018 Africa Women’s Championship?

Sitting in the stands for both the semi-finals and final of the 2016 Africa Women’s Championship (AWC) between Ghana and Cameroun, and then Nigeria versus Cameroun, respectively. I was thrilled about how well host nation Cameroun had pulled it through, raising the standard of organisation of women’s football in Africa.

However, I had to cringe at the thought that my dear country Ghana was the next to host the tournament in a year’s time. My apprehension was not about whether or not, Ghana had the capacity to pull off a wonderful event, but rather, my concern was over whether the competition in Ghana will pull the crowds, even if for free. Cameroun managed to pull the crowds to the stadium despite the fans being made to pay at the gates.
