Agbeko returns June 9 - Fights Kenyan Otieno at Bukom Arena

Three-time world bantamweight champion, Joseph "Kingkong" Agbeko will step into the ring for the first this year as the headline act for a bill titled; Legacy Boxing Night slated for June 9 at the Bukom Boxing Arena.

Agbeko, 37, will take on Kenyan boxer Nick Otieno, a onetime UBO World, IBF International and WBC International Bantamweight Champion, and the current WBA Pan African Champion in a 12-round bout.

The two-time IBF world and one-time IBO world champion's last fought on October 28 last year, a unanimous decision verdict over Tanzanian brawler Haji Juma.

Interestingly, Agbeko and his June 9 opponent, Otieno (31 wins and 11 losses) fought Juma last year with the latter defeating him for the in February.

According to Agbeko's manager, Eben Noye, his fighter views the bout as a step on his journey to making a final tilt at a world title.

Agbeko (31wins- five losses and 23 KO's) has lost four of his last eight bouts and another loss against unfancied Otieno, 43, could be damaging to his career.

Other talented pugilists on the Legacy Boxing Night under-card include Las Vegas-based Montenegrin boxer and former WBC Mediterranean and IBF Youth champion Milorad Micko Zizic, who will make his debut appearance on the African continent on the night as well as Ghanaian prospect Patrick Allotey.

A statement issued yesterday by Fresh King Entertainment said the full line-up of bouts on the under-card will be announced later.

The Legacy Boxing Night bout is organized by Fresh King Entertainment in partnership with StarTimes TV and The Ghana 60 Years On Secretariat.
