Ghanaians’ interest in the Premiership is expected to further grow as four national stars make a strong appearance in the competition.

Andre Dede Ayew (Swansea), Jeffrey Schlupp (Leicester City), Jordan Ayew (Aston Villa) and Christian Atsu (Bournemouth) are expected to be in action this weekend, and if the reported Chelsea move for Baba Rahman is completed, there could be a fifth Ghanaian in the league.

Friends amd teammates in the national team, these stars will momentarily become foes for their respective clubs when they face each other, with a juicy clash anticipated as early as tomorrow when Jordan faces Atsu in the Bournemouth versus Aston Villa match at 2:00pm.

After a season in the Premiership on loan with Everton, where he enjoyed little playing time, Atsu may have gained the needed experience to face newcomer Jordan. But the Bournemouth forward faces an uncertain start to the campaign over his fitness after injuring his lower back during a pre-season friendly last week.

For Jordan, Villa manager, Tim Sherwood, is already relishing the youngster’s impact on the team. Just a day after his surprise signing, he was handed his debut and impressed with his output, with the Villa boss describing him as “a star in the making”.

Sherwood is particularly thrilled with the versality of the Ghanaian and that gives a big hint of the role he intends to hand him.
He told AVTV: “Jordan can play a number of positions.

“He can play on the left side of the attack or as a No. 9.

“Jordan has good pace and strength. His all-round game is what we’re looking for.

“He’s at a very good age with a good pedigree. We think we have a star in the making there,” he told Aston Villa’s website.

From the fixtures, the clashes will be more interesting midway through the competition when their clubs clash in both the first and second rounds.
