Appointment of Odotei, Akambi not the best — Alhaji Hearts

A former board member of Accra Hearts of Oak, Alhaji Braimah Sulemana, aka Alhaji Hearts, has taken umbrage at the appointment of Vincent Sowah Odotei and Alhaji Akambi on the board of the  club in one of the latest decisions taken by the board.

He contended that the decision to introduce the two, particularly Alhaji Akambi, was a recipe for disaster and wondered what the board considered before arriving at the decision.

“What is all about Akambi that he should be on the board of Hearts at all cost?. I believe that if broader consultations were held the board would not have taken this decision”, he stressed in an interview with the Graphic Sports.

Alhaji Hearts, who was a member of the Hearts Management when the club won the Africa Champions League in 2000 and the Africa Super Cup in 2001 explained that it was common knowledge that Alhaji Akambi and Barima Attuahene, current chairman of the National Chapter Committee (NCC) of Accra Hearts of Oak supporters, are at loggerheads and would be difficult for the two to work together on the board for the common good of the club.

Indeed, the acrimony between the two, he argued, recently spilled into the open when the two virtually traded in insults on air.

“I’m even aware that Atuahene wants to resign from the board and I support him because Akambi has served his time on the board as a representative of the supporters and I don’t know the criteria which were used to coopt him onto the board”, he quibbed.

On Odotei, Alhaji Hearts argued “we all saw what happened when he was the CEO of both Hearts and King Faisal”.
