The 25-year-old Yakubu signed a two-year contract with the club yesterday after passing his medicals last Wednesday.

Yakubu, who has scored 11 goals in 15 appearances for First Capital Plus Premier League leaders AshantiGold, joins the Moroccan giants on the recommendation of new Raja manager Ruud Krul.

The Dutch coach knew about Yakubu’s abilities during his stint in South Africa with Maritzburg United. Krul was manager of Orlando Pirates then.

Yakubu follows former Maritzburg teammate Mohammed Awal as the third Ghanaian to be signed by Casablanca-based side in recent months.

Raja, who finished 8th in the Moroccan League last season, are close to signing Medeama SC's Asamoah, who is expected in Morocco for his mandatory medical tests for a possible deal before the Moroccan transfer window shuts on September 17.

Asamoah is the leading scorer in the Premier League with 18 goals.

Meanwhile, AshantiGold forward Bernard Morrison is close to joining DR Congo giants, AS Vita Club.

The diminutive attacker, who has one more year left on his contract with the ‘Soccer Miners’ is in Kinshasha and has already agreed personal terms for a three-year deal with the Stade Tata Raphael side.

According to supersport.com, the 2014 CAF Champions League finalists have agreed on a $100,000 transfer fee with AshantiGold to be paid in instalments.
