Ashgold 7 points clear, Oly fall at Wa

Ashantigold took a firm grip of the top spot of the First Capital Plus Premier League yesterday after beating bottom placed BA United 4-1 at the Len Clay Stadium to move seven points clear of their nearest challengers, Wa All Stars.

Mumuni Shafiu gave Ashgold the lead in the seventh minute from a spot kick before Bernard Morrison doubled the lead in the 39th minute.
Francis Adjei increased the tally just three minutes into the second half before Selorm Djeraldo gave BA United a consolation goal in the 56th minute.

Left full back Tijani Joshua completed the rout with the fourth goal for the Aboakese lads who are undefeated at home this season.
• At the Accra Sports Stadium, Inter Allies held Hearts of Oak to a goalless draw with the Phobians unable to avenge the 2-1 defeat they suffered in the first round clash at Tema.

There was no joy for Hearts’ city rivals, Accra Great Olympics, who were defeated 2-0 by Wa All Stars at the Wa Stadium.
All stars, who beat Hearts of Oak by a similar scoreline last Wednesday, netted through Stephen Nyarko and Kweku Asuandzie Baffoe.
