Team GBC gunning for another silverware

BGC, others in cricket semis

Two favorite clubs in the ongoing Accra Seniors Cricket League booked their places in the semi-finals of the competition after winning their last group games at the Achimota Cricket Oval last Sunday.

BGC 1 posed a comfortable win over U-19, while Taysec Titans scaled through with a close victory over Veterans. The other two clubs which also made it to the semis were Bel Aqua and BGC 2.

Taysec Titans, which led Group A with four points before the game, defeated Veterans by 9 runs. The Titans batted in the first innings, posing 108 runs with the lost of only 5 wickets in the 20 over’s. Matthew Bawa and fellow brother Mark Bawa continued to be the strength of the batting prowess of the Titans. Veterans in the second innings, with a target 109 to win were limited to 99 runs losing 9 wickets at the end of their 20 over’s.

In the other group A game, BGC 1 defeated U 19 by 6 wickets, getting their second win in the group. The young men could only manage 111 runs in their 20 over’s losing 9 wickets in the first inning. BGC 1 finished off the game with 21 balls to spare, 116 runs for 4 wickets.

Elsewhere in Group B, BGC 2 advanced to the semis with a comfortable 5 wickets win over newcomers Oasis Distilleries. Batting first Oasis Distilleries made 81 runs, all out in their 20 over’s whiles BGC 2 replied smoothly with 82 runs for 5 wickets with 3 over’s to spare.

In the other group B game, Xenon Impex presented Bel Aqua with the maximum 2 points through a walk over victory.
