Team Ghana failed to raise enough funds for the Olympic Games, compelling the Minister of Youth and Sports, Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye, to appeal to BOST to help sponsor athletes to the games.

Presenting the dummy cheque to the Chief Director at the Ministry, Victor Xola Senaya, the Public Relations Officer of BOST, Mr Salifu Nat Acheampong, noted that his outfit’s sponsorship of Team Ghana at the Olympics would help motivate the athletes to put in more and also give some moretary offers to them to  improve their lives.

He added that the gesture was the company’s way of contributing its quota to the national efforts in sports, since sportsmen and women brought good image to the country.

Mr Senaya, who received the cheque on behalf of the minister, said: "We thank the company for responding positively when we called on them.

"It is always good for companies to supplement government’s efforts, which may sometimes not be enough."
