The organisation’s popular brand, the ‘Tornado,’ named after a former Black Stars skipper, Stephen Appiah, will be introduced in Accra on Monday.

He said the initiative was in accordance with President John Mahama’s appeal to Ghanaians to patronize made in Ghana goods.

Alive&Kicking has been in the country for just two years yet employs 130  Ghanaians who produce 75,000 balls a year for the local and export markets.

Addressing the media after a visit to the factory premises, Ayariga said his outfit would support the company by introducing them to the government to produce for the Ghana Education Service (GES) and other corporate organisations.

“I will support the company by introducing it to government so the factory can expand since its initiative of manufacturing  sports balls is in accordance with the president’s directive,” he stressed.

“Alive and Kicking’s partnership with Stephen Appiah Foundation which will be used for charity work will help improve areas of health, quality education and care,” he added.

Chris Roe, country director of Alive and Kicking, said their decision to brand its product the’ Tornado’ ball was to honour former Black Stars captian Stephen Appiah for his achievement in the sport.
