The game has also brought  joy to the people of the area.

Ofori has successfully been organising a local league in the area for the past few years and the competition has now attracted seven clubs in the Sewfi area.

He told Graphic Sports last week that the competition had helped to discover many talents  in the area.

“W’ll select the best to form a second division side. We have high quality players in our league who at any day can represent the nation. My ambition  is  to see some of our local talents in the leagues in the country”, he stressed.

As part of efforts to boost the talents, an award ceremony was held last week to honour players who distinguished themselves in the league.

Herbert Ankomah of Aowin All Stars emerged the best player with the Most Promising Player award going to Thomas Cobinnah, also of  All Stars.

The rest of the awards were as follows:

Ebenezer Pobi (Lucky Stars) — Best Defender.

Paa Kwao Bago (Lucky Stars) — Best goalkeeper.
