Sheikh Sharubutu, the highest Muslim religious authority in the country, made the call when national Peace Ambassador, Stephen Appiah, and organisers of the Unity Cup, Primeval Media, last Tuesday paid a courtesy call on him at his residence in Accra to formally invite him to the event.

Sheikh Sharubutu, who is also a member of the National Peace Council, urged all Ghanaians to emulate Appiah's laudable initiative and prayed for an incident-free election.

“I’ve always advocated for peace, I’m honoured to receive you and have poured upon you my blessings as you embark on a peaceful journey,” Sheikh Sharubutu  said.

Appiah had earlier visited the National Peace Council (NPC) where he briefed its Chairman, Reverend Professor Emmanuel Asante, on preparations for the two-leg game slated for June 8 and 11 in Kumasi and Accra respectively.
