Dede Ayew: Swansea future uncertain

Andre Ayew has vowed he will be better next season – but has admitted he can't be certain it will be at Swansea City.

While Ayew admits he is happy to move around the pitch to help out his side – having also played wide, as a No.10 and in midfield this term – he has made it clear he does not see his Swans future as a striker.

The Ghanaian grabbed a double in the safety-assuring weekend win over Liverpool, taking his tally to 10 following his arrival on a Bosman-free from Marseille last summer.

Swansea’s struggles and flirtation with relegation could well tempt Ayew to look elsewhere this summer with the forward openly ambitious, though he has again stressed he is happy at the Liberty where his move seen was as a coup by many as the Swans saw off competition from a string of European and Premier League rivals – including this weekend’s opponents West Ham – to snare the African ace.

But his impressive-enough campaign has kept interest alive in Ayew – and Swansea understood to be prepared to listen to offers of around £12m for the 26-year-old.

And while he has insisted he will aim to show he can provide more in the Premier League after inconsistencies of a debut campaign, he refused to close the door on suggestions his future could lie elsewhere.

Asked on his future, Ayew said:

“I am at Swansea and I am happy here, everything is okay, but in football you never know what can happen.”
