Die-Hard Supporters appeals for calm

The President of the Die-Hard Supporters Union,  Abraham Nkansah, says the controversy over the World Cup budget for Black Stars must  not be overstretched as that could dampen the spirit of the players.

“We must watch what we say so that our utterances do not adversely affect the Black Stars as they prepare for the competition,” he said.

The president of the union told the Daily Graphic that his group would embark on a  nationwide tour to solicit support for the Black Stars as they prepared towards the upcoming World football fiesta in June, this year.

He said the initiative was geared towards mobilising maximum support for the Stars.

The group, according to Mr Nkansah, is also calling on Ghanaians, especially religious organisations, to commence a special daily prayer session for the Stars in their quest to annex the world title.

Sharing his view on the proposal by the Ministry of Youth and Sports to source alternative funding for some selected members of the Black Stars supporters’ groups to travel to Brazil to support the team during the World Cup, the president of the diehard supporters union commended the Youth and Sports minister for the intended assistance, and appealed to corporate institutions to support the gesture.

“We cannot travel as a group to support the Black Stars in Brazil without  corporate sponsorship for the die-hard group, which is the most popular supporters group in the country,” he added.
