Diwali Cup T20 continues
The second week of the ongoing Diwali Cup T20 Cricket tournament has ended at the Achimota Cricket Oval with two interesting encounters.
In the first game, newcomers Kotobabi Knight Riders played Godrej Cricket Club in a Pool B clash. Both teams had lost their opening games and were keen on winning to keep alive their chances of qualifying for the semi-finals.
Godrej batted first and were bowled out for 90 in 17.2 overs, with Razdan taking 4 wickets for 7 runs. Batsman, nicknamed KKR, easily chased the score of 91 on 13 overs to record their first win.
The second match saw defending champions BGC clash with Super Max. BGC batted first and reached a competitive score of 118 for the loss of 7 wickets in their 20 overs, led by their batsman Ranjeet who scored 39 of 33 balls. Super Max responded and managed only 88 for 8 wickets in their 20 overs.
BGC won the match by 30 runs to become the first team to qualify for the semi-finals.
Tomorrow will see two interesting matches involving Bel Aqua taking on Everest Cricket Club in Pool B, while Oasis and Supermax clash to decide the second semi-finalist from Pool A.
The Diwali Cricket Cup is an Indian-inspired annual cricket competition to celebrate the Diwali Festival and create awareness about the sport to the Ghanaian populace.
