Dwadifo Adanfo Hockey League : Clubs to observe a minute’s silence for patron

The Greater Accra Hockey Association will observe a minute's silence ahead of today's Dwadifo Adanfo Hockey League games in honour of the first female chairman of the Ghana Hockey Association, Theodosia Salomey Okoh.

Madam Okoh, who passed away last Sunday at age 92, is credited with qualifying Ghana to her maiden appearances at the Hockey World Cup and the Olympic Games.

Her contributions to the development of hockey were recognised in 2004 when the National Hockey Stadium was named after her.

According to Richard Akpokavie, the current president of the Ghana Hockey Association, teams have also been given the option to wear black armbands for the games.

"The Ghanaian hockey family has been saddened by her passing and will pay a fitting tribute by observing a minute's silence, as well as wear black armbands for Saturday's games at the Theodosia Okoh Stadium."

The ladies of Ghana Revenue Authority and Police will clash in the pick of the day, while Reformers play Ark Ladies, Sapholda battle NDK Financiers, Reformers lock horns with Exchequers and Real Ambassadors take on Tema Manhean.

Meanwhile, Trustees will face Goldensticks, with Veterans Hockey Club playing a special testimonial match for Samuel Charles Mante-Akrofi (Akro) who turned 60 years this week.
