FA Cup quarter-finals: Ayew suspension hands Spurs boost

Swansea City striker Jordan Ayew will not be available to face Spurs in the FA Cup next weekend following his red card against Huddersfield Town on Saturday afternoon.

The Ghanaian international has played a major role in his side's rise up the table in recent weeks and he will be a big loss for the Welsh side.

After playing a big part in last week's 4-1 win over West Ham, the striker was given his marching orders after only 11 minutes following a dangerous tackle on Jonathan Hogg.

That means that Ayew will now miss his side's upcoming games against Spurs, Manchester United and West Brom.

With the Swans having hopes of reaching the FA Cup semi-finals, the suspension of Ayew will be a big loss for Carlos Carvalhal's side.

Since netting a late equaliser against Crystal Palace prior to Christmas, the forward has gone on to net a further six goals as the Welsh side have managed to climb up the table after finding themselves in a perilous position.

Given Spurs are now out of the Champions League, Mauricio Pochettino will be hoping that he can lead his side to FA Cup glory in May.

While the game at the Liberty Stadium will certainly not be easy, the Lilywhites have won 11 of their 14 Premier League fixtures against Swansea since 2011.
