Fianoo rubbishes fans’ demonstration

The Chief Executive of Ashantigold Sporting Club, Kudjoe Fianoo, has called the bluff of some supporters of the club who embarked on a demonstration yesterday to demand his resignation from the club.

Yesterday, pictures of the demonstrators carrying placards went viral on social media calling for the head of Fianoo and some management members of Ashgold.

Some of the placards read, “CEO (Fianoo) you claimed you wish to go, go now”, we don’t want forwardzone, it is a cooked deal by Nana Ampofo and Fianoo”, forwardzone; we know Fianoo more than you” and $25,000 from Betway would be mismanaged by Fianoo”.

In a telephone interview with the Graphic Sports yesterday, Mr Fianoo, who doubles as the chairman of GHALCA, said “I am in Accra and not in Obuasi but I heard about it on social media and I think that if they have any issues they should direct their grievances to the board of directors instead of making noise on the streets”.

“I heard they were about 11 people so contact the leadership of the supporters union to find out if those people were actually members of the union,” he added.

When Graphic Sports contacted Nana Ampofo Bekwai, the substantive manager at Anglogold Ashanti, he confirmed the demonstration by the group, but however said he doubted if the demonstrators were indeed registered members of the supporters union of the club.

“I doubt if those people are members of the supporters union because they were only 11,” he retorted.
