FIFA 11 For Health underway

The vice president of the Ghana Football Asscoiation (GFA), George Afriyie, has urged participants of the FIFA 11 for Health programme in the country to take the exercise seriously due to its immense benefits.

At the closing ceremony of the Greater Accra edition of the programme, the GFA vice president said football did not only serve as a source of entertainment but also as a source of good health, and expressed the hope that the implementation of the programme would lead to increased knowledge and behavioural change.

Mr Afriyie gave out football equipment to the participating P.E. Teachers of the FIFA 11 for Health programme also advised them to cooperate with the project officers for a successful implementation throughout the country.

 

The current programme, the fourth in the series, was launched in Ghana by Camerounian legend, Samuel Eto’o, and Prof Dvorak.

P.E. teachers in Sunyani and its environs will also be trained today.

The programme then moves to Wa and Bolgatanga from January 11-15 where 180 Physical Education teachers will be trained.

After training, the PE teachers will go back to their various schools and implement the programme over an 11-week period. Three hundred and sixty schools will be covered nationwide.

The FIFA 11 for Health is a football-based health education programme and a collaboration among FIFA, GFA, MoYS, MoE and MoH.
