Former athlete to chair Little Campus ‘Sports Day’ today

Mr E. C. O. Addy, who represented Ghana at the first All Africa Games held in Congo in 1965, as well as the Tokyo Olympic Games in 1964, will today chair the second edition of the North Legon Little Campus “Annual Sports Day” at the school’s premises at North Legon on the Atomic Junction-Agbogba road.

Mr Addy, who combined sports and academic work while he was has a student at the University of Ghana, will use the occasion to mentor the pupils and encourage them to also engage in sporting activities in school.

 

The event, themed: “A Sound Mind in a Sound Body”, will see the students being divided into four groups in the colours of red, blue, yellow and green to compete for honours in events such as 100 metres, sack race, lime and spoon, tug of peace, 50-metre dash, musical chairs, shooting, among others event.

The defending champions, red and blue teams, will be represented by pupils in the preschool and primary level, while the yellow and green teams will be represented by those at the secondary level who will battle for the two magnificent trophies at stake.

According to the Managing Director of the school, Lawyer Douglas Djarbeng, the event was meant to promote healthy competition among the students, as well as make the students to understand the benefits of combining sports and academics.

 

The North Legon Little Campus, established in 2007, is an international school running a British National Curriculum with classes such as crèche, reception (kindergarten), nursery, primary, as well as the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE)
