GBA supports maimed boxing enthusiast
The Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) yesterday donated GH¢1,000 to Mr Teddy Lamptey, a boxing enthusiast, who had his right limb amputated last year due to an infection.
The Public Relations Officer of the GBA, Naa Darkoa Dodoo, who made the donation at a brief ceremony in Accra, said her outfit decided to support Mr Lamptey because of his enormous contributions to the development of the sport in the country.

She also praised Mr Lamptey, 67, for his years of service to the sport during which he held roles including being a promoter, referee, historian and judge.
She said, "Mr Lamptey has done everything in boxing over the last 40 years. He has managed former champions like D.K. Poison, Azumah Nelson and Ike Quartey so it was only fitting to come to his aid at this moment.
"Indeed, this is not the first time we are making such a presentation but we will encourage other members of the boxing fraternity to support him too.”
Former GBA Executive Board member Lord Acquaye, who spoke on behalf of the amputee, thanked the GBA for the donation, urging other stakeholders and especially boxers who were managed by Mr Lamptey to make similar donations.
He also thanked the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Odododiodoo constituency, Mr. Nii Lante Vanderpuiye, for making a similar donation to Mr Lamptey earlier in the year.
