GCAA hold firm at the top as UG Corporate League race heats up
Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) have tightened its grip on the top spot in Group A of the University of Ghana Corporate Football League after Match Week Six, maintaining an unbeaten run to lead the standings.
GCAA sit first with 14 points, having secured four wins and two draws from six matches. Their campaign has been defined by defensive discipline and attacking efficiency, scoring 14 goals while conceding only twice, giving them one of the strongest goal differences in the competition.
Close behind are Ghana Armed Forces Officers Sports Club (GAFOSC), who remain unbeaten and trail the leaders by two points. GAFOSC have been the most prolific side in the group, scoring 15 goals, while also boasting the best defensive record, conceding just once so far.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) occupy third place with 11 points and remain within striking distance of the top two. With three wins, two draws and one defeat, their steady form keeps them firmly in the title race as the competition approaches a decisive phase.
The battle in the middle of the table is intensifying, with Lancaster and Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) level on 10 points in fourth and fifth positions respectively. Lancaster hold a slight advantage on goal difference, underpinned by a solid defensive record that has seen them concede only four goals.
GOIL PLC and the University of Ghana are tied on seven points, reflecting contrasting paths to the same tally. While GOIL have drawn four matches, the most in the group, the University of Ghana have struggled for consistency, suffering three defeats.
Bui Power, with six points, remain within reach of the mid-table positions, but face increasing pressure to close the gap. At the bottom of the table, Stanbic Bank and GIMPA are yet to record a win, with GIMPA enduring a difficult run marked by a high number of goals conceded.
With the competition entering a crucial stage, the race at both ends of the table is expected to intensify. The fight for top spot remains open, while the battle to avoid finishing at the bottom is becoming equally significant as teams look to salvage their campaigns.
