GFA dominate as Bui Power edge UG in Week 8 of UG Corporate League
Match Week 8 of the University of Ghana Corporate Football League delivered a night of high-intensity action in Group A, with commanding wins, narrow victories and a tense stalemate highlighting the growing competitiveness of the tournament.
The standout performance of the evening came from the Ghana Football Association (GFA), who produced a clinical display to defeat the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration 4-1. Augustus Quaye and Eric Donkor each registered a brace, powering GFA to a dominant victory despite a consolation strike from Samuel Arthur for GIMPA.
In another closely fought encounter, Bui Power Authority edged the University of Ghana 1-0 in a disciplined performance defined by early attacking intent and resolute defending. Bright Agyekum’s 17th-minute goal proved decisive, as Bui Power held firm to deny the hosts any route back into the game.
The clash between GOIL and the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation lived up to expectations, producing an evenly contested affair. GOIL ultimately secured a 2-1 victory through goals from Wesley Nortey and Nana Kwaku Fosu, while Charles Asante pulled one back for GNPC to keep the contest alive until the closing stages.
Lancaster Accra also impressed, recording a convincing win over Stanbic Bank Ghana. Goals from Divine Adjamli and Daniel Agyekum ensured Lancaster maintained momentum with a composed performance.
The most anticipated fixture of the night between Ghana Armed Forces Officers Sports Club and the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority ended in a goalless draw, reflecting a tactical battle between two of the league’s strongest contenders. Both sides demonstrated defensive discipline, leaving little space for attacking breakthroughs in a match that kept spectators engaged throughout.
The 2026 edition of the league continues to gather momentum, showcasing competitive corporate football while strengthening collaboration between institutions and organisations through sport.
The competition is supported by Perla Mineral Water as headline sponsor, with additional backing from TCL, Glico General Insurance, Wilmar Africa and the Ghana Football Association. It is organised by the University of Ghana Sports and Wellness Directorate in partnership with RITE Sports Services, with GTV Sports Plus and Radio Universe serving as media partners.
