GRUPA has been in existence for about six months now and with this initiative, the association is seeking to set the pace for other sporting associations to follow.

The president of GRUPA, Mr. Michael Ako Wilson is very elated with his association’s involvement in this massive clean-up exercise and believes the initiative will help create awareness in the sporting fraternity that good health is indeed the first step to wealth.

He said "Like we tackle adversaries to defend our lines and avoid being scored in Rugby, we plan to in the same way tackle the filth to defend the good health we enjoy and also help prevent cholera."

He added, “With discipline, respect and a high sense of integrity, we are using our passion to show solidarity towards a national cause. These are the true values of Rugby”.

He called on the whole rugby family in Ghana to come out on Saturday, December 6th to assist the Accra Metropolitan Assembly to clean the city.

"Let us reach out to everyone in our team this Saturday, 6th December, to come out in their numbers and make the first ever GRUPA-AMA Clean-Up campaign a success," he appealed.

He said the meeting point is the Public Garden (between Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel and Novotel) and the time is 6:30 am. "T-shirts will be provided to participants."
