Ghana Table Tennis delegation returns from high-performance global youth training camp in China

The Ghana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) is pleased to announce the safe return of Ghana’s delegation from the prestigious ITTF Global Youth Training Camp held in Chengdu, China.

The delegation, made up of Joanita Borteye, Israel Aklie, and Cynthia Kwabi, participated in the elite high-performance programme at the Chengdu National Key Table Tennis Training School from 4th to 13th December 2025, alongside some of the world’s most promising young table tennis talents.

During the intensive camp, Joanita Borteye and Israel Aklie were fully integrated into the ITTF High Performance Programme for Young Talents, where they trained under top-level international coaches, competed against elite peers, and were exposed to advanced technical, tactical, and physical training methods.

The experience provided valuable insight into global best practices and elite performance standards.

Cynthia Kwabi, representing Ghana in a leadership capacity, participated in a special ITTF pathway for female leaders, gaining exposure to athlete development systems, sports leadership frameworks, and high-performance environments.

Her participation highlights ITTF’s ongoing commitment to empowering women and building future leaders within the sport.

The successful completion of the camp marks another significant step in Ghana’s table tennis development journey.

The knowledge, experience, and international exposure gained are expected to positively impact athlete performance and contribute to long-term capacity building within the Ghanaian table tennis ecosystem.

GTTA commends the dedication and discipline demonstrated by the athletes and extends its sincere appreciation to the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) for the opportunity and continued support.

The Association also thanks all partners and stakeholders whose contributions continue to advance table tennis development in Ghana.

As the athletes reintegrate into local training programmes, GTTA remains committed to leveraging this international exposure to strengthen performance pathways and inspire the next generation of Ghanaian table tennis players.
